DISCOVER THE OPEN WATERS OF THE CANTABRIAN SEA
Join us on outings to discover life in the open waters of the Basque Country.
The pelagic environment is a place that is difficult to access and which almost nobody can reach due to its remoteness from the coast. Although at first glance from the surface it may appear to be a blue desert, life is present as well as many of the natural processes that occur under the surface of the water, which affect and are related to life on land.
Dive into the ocean that bathes our shores to learn about the animals that visit us. You will be able to observe from the tiniest organisms such as phytoplankton and zooplankton, through the species that feed on them, and other largerones such as salps, jelly fish or schools of anchovies, continuing with a chain that grows with sunfish or tuna and also blue sharks, which are the stars of our sightings.
From Bermeo
We do tours every day from mid-June to mid-October, from the port of Bermeo, just 30 km from Bilbao, located in the Urdaibai Biosphere Reserve, surrounded by the Ogoño cape, Matxitxako cape and San Juan de Gaztelugatxe.
Every day on summer time
Everyday in summer, if the weather and sea conditions do not prevent it. We go out mornings and afternoons according to the daily forecast.
No experiencie required
No diving experience is necessary, although you do need to know how to swim and be familiar with the use of snorkels and fins. Snorkelling experience is recommended.

Depending on the seasons and the time of year, the sea changes and so does the fauna in open water, so we can enjo ydifferent encounters and also blue sharks.
¡¡¡Everything is possible in the ocean!!!!
COMMITTED TO CARING FOR OUR ENVIRONMENT
“And we don’t just take you to see sharks. One of the fundamental pillars of MAKO PAKO is the development of this activity as a tool for CONSERVATION, DIVULGATION and EDUCATION”.
Now as days most of the populations of the sea nimals find themselves is EXTREMELY DELICATE AND VERY CRITICAL, so fostering knowledge about them, together witht he experience of swimming with the sharks, becomes a therapy in which you learn about and understand them.
“We try to change the image that has always been had of these animals, making the real one known, which is none other than that of a fundamental piece for the balance of our seas and consequently, also for life one arth”.
