Sharks from Bermeo
Bermeo is located near the western limits of the Basque coast, where Cape Matxitxako extends into the Cantabrian Sea, creating an environment that is both unpredictable and spectacular.
On this expedition, we search for blue sharks along their migration routes, navigating offshore through a setting that combines light, depth, and oceanic wildlife. An open-sea experience designed to safely and responsibly observe and document blue sharks in their natural environment.

What You Need
To take part in the activity, you must have full snorkeling equipment:
- Mask
- Snorkel
- Fins
- Full-length dark-colored wetsuit
(Wetsuits with bright or high-contrast colors are not allowed.)
Water temperature ranges between 18–24°C, depending on the season.
You may bring your own equipment if it meets these requirements.

Yes. Blue sharks are calm and shy animals in the presence of humans.
The activity follows strict protocols to ensure participant safety and animal welfare.
On some trips, the guide may enter the water with a camera and take photographs. However, their priority is always safety and group supervision.
If photos are taken, we can share the images from your trip.
If you would like a dedicated photographer, this can be requested as an additional service.
Check the weather forecast and bring what is appropriate for the conditions:

We recommend taking seasickness medication 30 minutes before departure (consult your doctor).
Remember to bring your snorkeling equipment or rent it from us.
For two reasons:
- Sea conditions: The activity takes place offshore. If the skipper determines it is not safe, the trip will be canceled or rescheduled.
- Insufficient participants: A minimum of 4 participants is required.
In both cases, you may reschedule or receive a refund according to the cancellation policy.

While the sighting rate for blue sharks is very high during the season, sightings cannot be guaranteed.
